The Brief
Netomnia is the UK's fourth-largest full-fibre network operator, building at significant pace and scale. As their fibre network grew, ODIN became a key internal platform for managing rollout and ongoing maintenance.
They needed experienced developers who could join an already established team, understand the product quickly and contribute from day one, without the overhead of a traditional agency engagement.
This was a strong fit for mmtm: bringing deep web development experience, existing telecoms knowledge and the ability to make meaningful improvements to a live, complex platform.
Working with live platforms
Adding capability without disrupting the teams already relying on ODIN every day.
This is part of our bread and butter here at mmtm.
The Challenge
ODIN is the operational core of the Netomnia business. It supports the practical work of planning, building, maintaining and selling fibre infrastructure, which means changes cannot be treated lightly.
The challenge was not simply to add development capacity. It was to do so in a way that respected the complexity of the platform, the pace of the business, and the number of teams relying on it.
That meant working in a codebase already in motion, delivering improvements without disrupting live operations, and making decisions that would hold up across a broad set of users and stakeholders.
It also meant navigating the realities of a growing organisation. ODIN had to serve planners, surveyors, network builders, internal operations teams, build partners and the wider commercial side of the business, while continuing to evolve as Netomnia expanded and later merged with Brsk.
“ mmtm became a genuine extension of our team. They got up to speed quickly, contributed without hand-holding, and were able to work effectively in a platform that sits at the centre of a lot of operational complexity. That made a real difference. ”
Our Solution
We joined Netomnia as an extension of their internal team, providing senior engineering support across the ongoing development of ODIN.
From the start, the focus was practical: understand the product quickly, fit into the existing delivery rhythm, and help move important work forward without adding friction.
Feature Development
Because the product is tied so closely to all of Netomnia's day-to-day operations, we helped to deliver new features and improvements across the platform.
that work included development of Splicing, Build Audits, Requests for Change (RFCs) systems as well as integrations with other platforms inculuding QGIS and Openreach PIA. Good delivery here meant making sensible product decisions, understanding operational dependencies, and building changes that worked in the real world.
Ongoing Support
Alongside roadmap work, we helped support ODIN as a live and evolving platform.
That included refining existing functionality, resolving issues and strengthening areas of the product where reliability and clarity mattered most. In an environment like this, ongoing support is not secondary work: it is part of what keeps the business moving.
Working Across Stakeholders
A major part of the engagement has been translating needs from across the business into focused technical delivery.
ODIN touches a wide group of people, from planning to design to build to auditing (especially so as Brsk joined the picture!), our role is to help create alignment: taking operational requirements from multiple sides of the business and turning them into meaningful improvements inside the platform.
“ We've had a great experience working with Martin and the team. They've been professional, responsive and flexible throughout, with excellent communication, and have become a trusted extension of our team that we'd happily recommend to others. ”
ODIN Today
ODIN remains a central part of how Netomnia manages its network build and maintenance operations.
Our engagement concluded as Netomnia entered the next stage of its growth, following a £2 billion acquisition offer from nexfibre. As part of that process, mmtm also supported the technical due diligence around ODIN and helped ensure the platform was ready for handover.
Over our time with Netomnia, we added experienced engineering capability to a business-critical platform, got up to speed quickly, and delivered improvements without slowing the internal team down - exactly the kind of complex, embedded work where mmtm adds most value. 🤓
